I have always loved painting - my art teacher Mercy Hunter really encouraged me both in painting and history of art. Unfortunately, when I was growing up it was expensive for my parents to put me through art college so instead I entered the business world, ending up as a personal assistant to a Financial Adviser. When I retired 8 years ago I took up painting again. I discovered pastel painting which I find very direct and reasonably quick to do. Joined the Pastel Society of Ireland and became a full member four years ago. Drawing people would be my preferred subject and have been fortunate to be asked to do commissions mostly from photographs.
I have no formal training apart from a one year Foundation Art course at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown in Northern Ireland.
