Helena O'Neill was born in Co Wexford and on moving to Co.Wicklow at age thirteen she commenced her Fine Art Training with Breton Sculptor and Painter Jean Renard Goulet.
For the next seven years he proved to be her mentor and biggest influence.
On leaving school she went onto train as an Occupational Therapist with post graduate work completed at TCD. This enabled her to travel, work and paint overseas over the next twenty years. Her work took her to Australia, USA, UK and Saudi Arabia. During this time Helena painted and held exhibitions both at home and abroad.
It was about ten years ago that Helena was introduced to Pastels by Pastelist Joe Keyes. This started a passion for this medium. Helena has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions (both juried and non juried) throughout Ireland . In 2005 a group of Irish Artists were invited by the grandson of Pissarro to exhibit in La Rochelle, France where they were awarded Gold Medals for their work.
