Breda has studied, painted and exhibited for many years, mostly in oils during which she won a Rowney award with the Irish School of Landscape Painting.
Some years ago she started working with pastels. She loves the immediacy, the illustrious and vibrant yet subtle effects that can be achieved. She became Associate Member of the Pastel Society of Ireland in 1999 and
was awarded The Selectors Prize at their Open Exhibition and Elected a full member in 2000
Her favourite subjects are the West of Ireland where the light changes so much she also likes painting in Wicklow from the bogs to the coast.
She now enjoys painting in all mediums but her favourite is pastels.
